Also Saddleworth based. We tend to use Awesome Walls at Stockport mainly, kids have always enjoyed climbing there, good selection of routes and easy to get to from Saddleworth.
The Parthian Climbing Manchester (Manchester Climbing Centre) is also not bad and is based inside a church close to the Manchester City football ground.
There is a new wall opening in Oldham very soon, be interesting to see what the climbing and bouldering is like. It also has some fun family orientated climbing / at height things, it could be a good local venue.
Within 30 or 40 minutes there are a few other walls, but not climbed on them for a few years. The ROKY climbing gym at Brighouse is in a fairly unique location and our kids enjoyed it. Not been to the new Hudderfield Wall, but meant to be good. Rock Over Climbing is easy enough to get a train to in Manchester and my daughters did head there on their own as easy to jump on a train from Greenfield. There is also a wall near Gorton (other side of Ashton) called BlocHaus Climbing, looks good, but not been. Must be 20 years since I was last at Marple, so can't comment on what the climbing is like these days. It did make a good alternative back then though.
Some nice local crags and boulders to play on around Saddleworth too, good to combine with a walk.
