Has anyone had their big toe nails removed? I’ve had Lamisal but the problem comes back making climbing in precise fitting shoes very uncomfortable. I’m beginning to think nail removal may be best option, has anyone else had experience of this, good or bad?

In reply to kevin stephens:

A chiropodist friend recommended using a dremel with a sanding wheel to thin down nasty fungal toenails.

It doesn't cure the complaint but it relieves the symptoms. Go gently and allow time to cool between passes.

Nail removal would be great, it would save me getting the angle grinder and hammer and chisel out every month to cut mine.

Climbing(or falling more accurately) removed my large toenail it’s never grown since,  nine years of one less toenail to clip

Hi, my (occasionally climbing) son had his big toe nails removed some years ago. There didn't seem to be any bad effects at all.

Gwain.
