Equally unfortunately, I did spot a 'breaking' (aka breakdancing) event, which is possibly the biggest departure from sport into the world of judged dance that I've yet to see awarded any kind of sporting credence. Given the horrors of rhythmic gymnastics and synchronised swimming, that's quite an achievement. Which is not to say it isn't impressive, nor that it doesn't require many of the attributes normally associated with high level sport. But stronger-higher-faster? Really? What will we see next - olympic ballet? olympic line dancing? Where will it end?
