Anyone been up to the Ullapool area recently? What's the snow like? I'm up there this weekend and was considering some easy gulleys.

I'd be surprised if the gullies were in nick. The gullies will be full of soft snow probably with water running underneath. It takes a long while for gullies to freeze. Mixed climbs perhaps OK; the higher and more exposed the better.

Awww. There's frozen turf on the football pitch here in Fife, so I was hoping the mountains would be wintry too. I'll pack my walking gear.

It's snowed since then. I would take both; it's just the gullies that won't be in.
