I made the mistake of going to Sourmilk Ghyll in Buttermere. Not in condition anymore. It had been over the weekend but the thaw has hit it badly. I'd never done it before and itwas a toss up between that + Newlands. Wrong choice.
I climbed low water beck today. Good ice, the first bit of fall had water flowing through the centre but otherwise still ok.
Second pitch by the slab and upper falls was really good ice still.
Was snowing up there as well, so still pretty cold.
Has anyone been to Blea Water Ice in the last couple days?
In reply to midweekmountain: As I drove over Kirkstone pass heading south I could see what looked some great icefalls in the quarries/mines in the distance on the right.

By the way - Low Water Beck was climbable last night (Wed) but she may not support many more asccents unless folk are gentle with her...
