Is there anything in North Wales in condition for some winter climbing?
Looking at going this weekend.

If you read the weather forecast for the weekend for Snowdonia...you'll find the answer to your question, which will save you a trip to North Wales.

Why?

Easy ridges should be good sport if a wade, plenty of fun to be had a a low grade on the classic grade I and II ridges. Tomorrow looks like superb cold clear weather

The BMC Ideal project is back online now, so more information available there too.

Getting warmer from Sat PM but there will be plenty worth doing..
Lech Ddu Spur is always fun and quiet in the snow.
Im considering Seniors Ridge from Seniors Gully on Sat AM.. may look into Cwm Cneifion to see if Hidden Gully is do-able!

I would imagine it probably will be, it's pretty reliable and very high up.

We are hoping to head down next weekend & was wondering the same thing.

Fairly new to winter stuff in the UK. Done a fair bit in the Alps but not a lot here.

Very conscious to make sure the conditions are good.

Does anyone know what the central trinity route is like?

Everyone seems to be asking about Trunity Face at the minute! To repeat, it is NOT IN and takes several freeze/thaw cycles to consolidate the gullies. Any attempts would be environmental vandalism.

I Googled "BMC Ideal project" and got no relevant results. I went to BMC's website and used their search for "ideal" but it was such a general search term that the results back weren't focused and I didn't find anything.

What is the Ideal project? Is it top secret?

Went up into Cwm Cneifion this morning... snow is powder!
Ice is up there... There were a few groups around doing some lines..
There was one group doing Left Hand Branch.

I did Hidden Gully (first time up that)... enjoyed it.. but its thin!
Yes.. there was some good ice but mostly frozen turf. The chockstones were rather interesting!

Ridges all looked good fun.. Came down Y Gribin.. luckily well trodden otherwise it would have been a wade fest.
And the amount of people going up with fashion shoes and a Primark jacket!!! I had Crampons on until back at Ogwen Cottage!

Fair enough that's why I wanted to double check as that is the last thing we'd want.

Any other recommendations of things to look at?

Cheers
