In reply to Ron Walker: All this ice and snow!!!!!! theres snow on the Cuillins but the rest of Skye has missed it all, completely bare of snow this year speaking from the NW end.

By the way no 'attempt'! Us two 'hardy souls' (followed by two other equally 'hardy souls')successfully scaled the German's Helmet emerging victorious into the sun. We congratulated each other with manly back slips and squinted manfully into the setting sun before descending the steep slopes and then risking a potential fiery death on the A9...

Apparently there was also an article in the Daily Record showing some other climbers (possibly the 'Lodge'?) top roping (bottom roping!)

In reply to Ron Walker: Aye Ron, that was Andy T and I with 3 students. We led up but it was easier to get the students climbing belayed from the ground. There were several short patches of II to the left that were good for teaching and students leading too.
