Hi, I have Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday this week off and was wondering if I should go to the alps or Scotland. Scotland looks not so good as far as I can see perhaps to mild and the alps look like it may perhaps have a high avalanche risk. I have been to Chamonix and Cogne a few times as well as La Grave. Looking for any suggestions places I could get more information on conditions?

look at https://www.ice-fall.com/ for the Ecrins (La Grave, Ceillac, Fournel etc). But its unseasonably warm today , + 14° in our village at 1350m in the southern Ecrin, although temperatures are forecast to drop in a couple of days

It's pretty crap up here in Scotland at the moment. There are still a few determined people getting out but it's slim pickings. If you're looking at doing snowy gully climbs it might be worth it, although weather looks like it could be pretty ming!

It's been a very mild winter and the little snow we've had has often been followed by sustained warm and wet periods.

Thanks Doug and Martin, very usfull, It looked like the Rhone Vallye and Aosta way had a reasonably high avalanche risk at the moment.

Was on Stob Ghabhar on Saturday. I can’t begin to tell you how little snow there was. Definitely one of the least wintery winters I’ve experienced.
