Hopefully UKC will do some official article on this so I won't go into too much detail. I just wanted to post a bit of positive news regarding Scottish Winter Conditions, as occasionally it all seems to go a bit Daily Mail - "I've just looked at a website and you shouldn't have gone outside...don't you know it's raining...won't somebody please think of the children, etc..."

Last week (Sat 22nd Feb - 29th Feb) was the Scottish International Winter Meet, and around 60 climbers (about 20 or so local hosts and 40 guest climbers from across the world) climbed every single day in Lochaber, the Cairngorms, Glencoe and various venues in the North West without a single serious incident. Now you could call that luck - or it could be that armed with information, experience, local knowledge and the willingness to moderate your objectives, it's possible to get out and climb in some pretty ferocious conditions and come back safely and have a good day out.
