Is it worth my time heading up to the Cairngorm area for a couple days of ski touring? What are the conditions like at the minute? I'm looking at 22nd - 26th potentially...

Thanks for any wisdom or input.

i m sure one of the locals will reply soon with some first hand info. however if not a quick peek at the webcams is usually quite helpfull. its been looking a bit black of late. but if i were thinking of the next few days, and the forecast was fair to middling i think i would go based on this(11.25 pic)

however might be more than a tad blowy

Hey Mike, thanks for the input. Look forward to any local feedback as well. I'll probably suck it, see what happens and hopefully not blow away. According to MWIS wind = 'any mobility tortuous' not sure I've seen it said like that before!

There's been loads of snow recently so it very much depends where it has blown to on the mountain. The ski area is currently closed and have just heard of an avalanche recently on a northerly aspect. Check the SAIS reports and Blogs as well as the Cairngorm Mountain ski area!!!!

no snow on the platau, all blown away! some huge drifts in places but you wont find any decent stretches of linked up snow im afraid. lots of snow has fallen and is forecast to continue falling over xmas, bt the winds are pretty sustained 60mph plus over the tops
