Climbing Technology - New Harnesses & Quickdraws Gear News

Climbing Technology have updated their range of harnesses this year with 3 new models, the Quarzo, Dedalo and Musa. There's a new collection of quickdraws too.

CT make good quality, well priced harnesses that have gained popularity over the years for offering high levels of comfort and performance (link to sport harness review from 2019).

This year CT have released 3 new models in the collection. They are in keeping with the existing range but offer a little more in the way of refinement.

For a UKC look at a CT harness, take a look at this group test:

Quarzo RRP £55

The Quarzo is a sport climbing specific harness that's designed to offer good comfort levels at a low weight. The waist belt and leg loops feature CT's new split webbing construction that spreads the load evenly. When combined with the firm padding this construction offers great levels of comfort and performance for extended sessions working a route.

A single waist buckle helps keep weight to a minimum, as does the skinny but strong belay loop which works well with modern carabiners and belay devices like the Click-Up. 4 gear loops keep the rack well organised.

Dedalo RRP £70

The Dedalo is a more all-round harness than the sport specific Quarzo and as such is suitable for pretty much all types of climbing, from single pitch trad through to alpine and winter climbing.

It has the same split webbing construction as the Quarzo but with wider padding that offers a little more support. The Dedalo also has adjustable leg loops for a better range of fit and to enable the harness to be worn with more layers in winter. It has 4 gear loops in all; two rigid ones at the front for racking quickdraws and two more flexible ones at the rear for racking other hardware.

Musa RRP £70

Another all round harness, this time in a Women's specific fit. The Musa is designed to be comfortable and versatile for anything from sport climbing to general mountaineering.

It shares the same split webbing construction as the Dedalo and Quarzo but has waistbelt and leg loops shaped to fit the female anatomy. Two angled and rigid gear loops to the front hold quickdraws and a further two more flexible loops to the rear are designed for other hardware. The Musa also has two tool holders and a rear chalk bag / accessory loop.

Berry Set DY, NY & PRO RRP £20 (single) £105 (six pack)

CT's new Berry Quickdraws are top-end sport and trad climbing draws with high build quality and innovative features.

The top carabiner has a straight gate with catch free closure and a best-grip profile that helps when handling and clipping.

The lower carabiner is a lightweight wire crab with the Free Gate system that eliminates rope snag and makes for an easier and safer clip. A fixit rubber fastener on the lower crab helps stop rotation too.

The Berry is available in 12, 17 and 22cm lengths, and with a Dyneema, standard Nylon or wide Nylon sling. 6 packs are also available.

Tricky RRP £25

A quick mention for the Tricky. It's not a new product in the CT line but it's proved to be really popular since its launch in 2019.

Tricky is a simple device designed to help with those just out of reach clips, whether it's the first bolt off the ground or mid route.
