Designed as a 'winterized' shoe for mid to long distance trail running, Dynafit's new Ultra 50 GTX shoe has been developed and tested to destruction across the Alps; in particular Dynafit's home stomping ground, the Dolomites.
For those days when it's particularly cold, with snow and ice about, Gore-Tex shoes make a lot of sense because they'll keep your feet much warmer. The GORE Invisible Fit technology used in the Ultra 50 bonds the waterproof/breathable membrane directly into the shoe, giving the feel of a non-GORE shoe with no pressure points and a true fit.
Underfoot, a specialist POMOCA sole uses natural 'caoutchouc' rubber for grip, with a lug pattern developed for wet and muddy surfaces which features an S-shaped 'gliding path' design that guides the foot from heel strike to toe-off, steering the rolling motion of the foot to ensure maximum power transfer and minimise energy loss. Adding to this, a high-rebound cushioning EVA midsole minimises impact on muscles and joints over distance.
A higher-volume fit anticipates how feet often swell while running over longer distances, but precision is maintained through the heel 'pre-loader' anchoring the foot. The upper features a reinforced toe cap to protect the toes, and a fabric overlap keeps laces stowed securely. Drop is 8mm, and both men's and women's versions are available.
