Assisted Braking Belay Devices from Edelrid Gear News

With the success of our competiton that is currently running on UKC to win 1 of 10 Bulletproof carabiners. We thought it would be a good time to draw your attention to another area of Edelrid's vast range of products. A few years ago Edelrid made the decision to be the first company to only offer assisted braking belay devices. This was a huge step forward and reinforced Edelrid's dedication to safety.

Micro Jul (RRP: £30)

This is Edelrid's lightest belay device. Designed for half and twin ropes, it can accommodate ropes from 6.9 to 8.0mm and single ropes up to 8.9mm. The perfect choice for fast and light alpine adventures.

  • Robust stainless steel construction to minimise weight
  • High braking performance assists the belayer with leader falls
  • Small eyelet for belaying your partner from the top of a pitch
  • Rope can be paid out faster by holding the device in the "open" position with your thumb

Mega Jul (RRP: £30)

Edelrid's most versatile belay device. It can accommodate ropes from 7.8 to 10.5mm. The perfect choice for UK trad climbing.

  • High braking performance assists the belayer with leader falls
  • Robust stainless steel construction to minimise weight
  • Rope can be paid out faster by holding the device in the "open" position with your thumb
  • Lightweight at only 65 grams

Mega Jul Sport (RRP: £30)

The sport climbing version of the award-winning Mega Jul. Designed with a specific geometry for sport climbing allowing for slicker belaying with thicker ropes.

  • Perfect for belayer the leader and abseiling
  • Robust stainless steel construction to minimise weight
  • High braking performance assists the belayer with leader falls
  • Suitable for use with ropes from 7.8-11.0m

Jul² (RRP: £30)

An innovative belay device with high braking performance for single ropes. Specifically designed to be easy to use and allow safe and secure belaying even with thicker ropes.

  • Body made of high quality stainless steel.
  • Optimized geometry ensures ease of use even for beiginners
  • Perfect handling even with thicker ropes, from 8.9-11.0mm
  • High braking performance assists the belayer with leader falls

And of course this;- "A few years ago Edelrid made the decision to be the first company to only offer assisted breaking belay devices." is absolute claptrap, they also sell the Bud and Terence as belay devices and certify them as such.

Some one at UKC has corrected the inadvertently funny spelling mistake/typo.

Ironically for me, the only belay device I've broken was BD not Edelrid, but anyway the lad above I'm sure didn't see the error.
