Discover the EDELRID Swift Pro Dry at Ellis Brigham Deal Of The Month

© Edelrid

Earlier this month EDELRID and Ellis Brigham offered visitors to UKClimbing the chance to win a top of the range Swift Pro Dry 8.9mm rope. In case you missed it the Swift Pro Dry represents the pinnacle of climbing rope technology, combining a thin diameter and light weight (52g/m) with triple-certification for use as a single, half or twin rope.

If we’ve piqued your interest you can learn more about the Swift Pro Dry 8.9mm, how it’s made and what makes it so special by checking out this video:

It’s not just it’s versatility that makes the Swift Pro Dry so good, it’s also the treatments that have been applied, one of which is alluded to in the naming of the rope. EDELRID’s Pro Dry finish was specially developed to meet and exceed the current UIAA standards for water repellency. The UIAA stipulates that to be considered ‘dry treated’ a rope must absorb no more than 5% of its total weight in water. Well the Swift Pro Dry goes further, absorbing less than 2% of its total weight in water, during testing. Not only is this of benefit in the UK’s wet and humid climate, but it also makes the Swift Pro Dry an ideal choice for alpine climbing where heavy, waterlogged ropes can have a sever impact on safety and performance.

Aside from Pro Dry, a Thermo Shield is used to imbue the rope with the supple handling characteristics, increased abrasion resistance and durability that are the hallmarks of EDELRID’s rope range. What’s more the Swift Pro Dry, along with every other rope in the EDELRID collection, is fully bluesign® certified. This means that the water, chemical and energy usage during production are minimised as much as possible, in addition to all material components being sourced in a sustainable manner. Currently no other rope manufacturer is able to meet these standards.
