EDELRID Bulletproof announced as climbing equipment winner at UK OIA 2017 Gear News

EDELRID's new Bulletproof karabiner has been selected as the winning product in the climbing equipment category at the 2017 UK Outdoor Industry Awards.

The Bulletproof karabiner offers safety and simplicity in such a way that you'll wonder why no one has done it before! It combines the lightness of aluminium, with stainless steel reinforcement at the apex – the area subject to the most abrasion.

Abrasion is caused both by clipping into bolt hangers and through the sustained motion of the rope running through the karabiner. On a normal aluminium karabiner this can cause sharp edges over time, which (in the worst scenarios) can cut through the rope, causing fatal accidents. The Bulletproof minimises this risk, without compromising on weight or functionality. The Bulletproof is available as either a straight or bent gate karabiner (RRP: £12) or as a quickdraw set with a choice of 12cm or 18cm slings (RRP: £17).

Prior to the public vote, over 100 entries in ten categories were shortlisted by a panel of expert judges (including specialist outdoor retailers and journalists) at the Outdoor Trade Show (OTS 2016). The products were also on display to over 50,000 consumers within a dedicated area at The Outdoor Adventure & Camping Show at ExCel in London where they could vote for their favourites.

Commenting on the win, Paul Craven from Eclipse Climbing who represents EDELRID in the UK said, "It was an honour to receive this award on behalf of EDELRID, and is testament to the ongoing innovations that they continue to produce."
