Since they were launched a couple of years ago, the Zodiac and Shield II have become mainstays of the EDELRID helmet collection - offering a comfortable and intuitive adjustment system, plenty of ventilation and low weights, they're ideally suited to a long day at the crag.

Zodiac (RRP: £50)

This lightweight (359g) and extremely stable hybrid helmet is perfect for climbing, mountaineering and via ferratas. Features include:

  • Wing-Fit system and rear adjustment dial fits all sizes and guarantees outstanding safety and comfort
  • Expanded polystyrene foam inner shell for reliable shock absorption
  • Large vents ensure a constant supply of fresh air
  • Cradle folds into helmet to significantly reduce the pack size
  • Fully adjustable chin strap with closure system positioned under the ear for greater comfort
  • 4 robust head torch clips
  • Robust and impact-resistant injection-moulded ABS shell
  • Detachable, washable padding (spare padding included)

Shield II (RRP: £75)

A lightweight (248g) and robust In-Mold helmet with innovative Wing-Fit closure system and excellent ventilation - it provides the perfect protection for long and demanding climbs. Features include:

  • Lightweight In-Mold construction with expanded polystyrene foam core and tough polycarbonate shell
  • Fully adjustable chin strap with closure system positioned under the ear for greater comfort
  • 4 robust head torch clips
  • Overhauled Wing-Fit system and rear adjustment dial fits all head shapes
  • Ergonomically-shaped interior with removable, washable padding (additional padding included)
  • Oasis version is fluorescent and glows in the dark

This is put forward as “news and reviewed” and “tried and tested”, both models are not new, and a list of manufacturers features does not constitute a review in my eyes. I don’t particularly mind adverts, and I like reading product reviews........but come on, I feel a bit fibbed to with this!
