A new dimension to your climbing and training at home

The new Ground-Up walls and Greenholds from Interface Climbing provide an affordable and adaptable system for climbing and training at home. The self-assembly walls, available in a range of angles and widths, along with the system-board holds and custom sized mats, make this the ultimate piece of climbing furniture for any home.

Ground-Up Climbing Walls

The free-standing Ground-Up wall can be assembled by one person, with no DIY skills, using just the hex keys provided. Because it doesn't require attachment to the building in any way, it is great for those in rented accommodation, or for use outside. The walls can also be installed without the legs by anyone competent at DIY, and Interface will soon be launching their own Skyhook system to make this even easier.

"After a bit over an hour the wall was up and ready for setting. Not only was it easy to build, the quality was top notch. This product is going to be a game changer." Sheridan

The flat-pack design has been optimised to ensure delivery is available to any residential address, even those in high rise flats or remote locations. It will also fit in almost any car, meaning that it is easy to move, and the bolted assembly system means the walls can be dismantled quickly and reassembled an unlimited number of times.

"Now that the weather is starting to take a turn for the worse and the days are getting shorter, the beauty of the Interface board is that it only takes a short time to dismantle, move indoors and reassemble in the living room until the spring." Sheridan

"Having this wall has saved both our sanity and our physical condition. Our Interface 40 degree board has allowed us to work on power, power endurance and endurance plus core workouts." Cindy

The range of Ground-up walls gives those pushed for space a compact climbing wall, offering so much more than just a hang-board, but with minimal footprint. For those with more space, the system allows for modular expansion and a number of link-up options will allow for combinations to form a larger home gym. Two wall heights are available to ensure the maximum climbing area within standard domestic ceiling heights.

"I never considered that my first floor flat could accommodate such meaningful climbing terrain. My 25 degree narrow Ground-Up wall is setup so I can flag-out both sides and has been so much more enjoyable than the somewhat neglected hang-board alongside!" Luke

As well as the standard 40 board, Interface also offer a 25 degree option. Whilst 40 degrees is great for strength, those looking for endurance training, or to share their wall with the family will find the 25 degree walls more suitable.

Features:

  • Angles: 25 or 40 Degree
  • Widths: 1.2m or 2.4m
  • Heights: 2.25m or 2.35m
  • Construction: Birch plywood from sustainable sources
  • Tools required for assembly: 5mm & 6mm Hex Key (included)
  • Hold fixing: M10 T-nuts (factory fitted) – 150mm square grid

Greenhold Symmetry Board Holds

Interface have also developed a range of wood holds, Greenhold, to provide a complete package and get you climbing at home. The plywood holds are all supplied as symmetrical pairs, and have been developed to be kind to the hands and skin, tested extensively by the team at interface. Greenholds are available in several sets, providing a range of grade options and a good variety of jugs, crimps, pinches, pockets, and slopers. All the holds bolt-on and have a single anti-rotation screw position, both with metal inserts for durability.

Mats made to measure

Each of the Ground-Up wall models has a 'made to measure' bouldering mat, avoiding gaps between mats under the larger walls and the need for dirty bouldering mats in your living room. These premium quality UK made, dual density mats, are covered in hard wearing but tactile PU coated polyester fabric. The mats for the 25 degree walls fold once, and the 40 degree walls twice, so they can be stored under the wall and can double up as a futon sofa.

"All the team at Interface are excited to share with our fellow climbers the new Ground-Up walls and Greenholds. We've put years of climbing and wall building experience, along with a lot of passion, and some serious hours of committed product testing into this system. We love climbing, and believe everyone should be able to climb anywhere - that's what Interface is all about." Piers Chapman, Founder, Interface Climbing

These look very nice. Obviously a lot more money than DIY etc, but takes the effort out of it, while looking very attractive, and I'm sure being very practical and solid.

Curious as to how well they'd hold up outside - 365 days/year in a Sheffield garden for example? How is the timber treated? From the article it looks like baaaasically an indoors thing, which is fair enough.

Does it come with a 'Ground-up' guidebook? ;-)

Chris, Glad you like the look of the product.

The walls are made from exterior grade plywood, with no timber at all. We recommend treating with a water based wood preservative and varnishing to get maximum life outdoors - which is a service we can offer - but is excluded from the standard product to keep the product as affordable as possible. We can also offer a full stainless steel fixing set, but this is non-standard for the same reason.

We are shortly going to be launching some other elements of the system, including shelters to protect the wall and climber from rain, snow or sun. Please keep an eye on our socials and site for release soon.

Thanks, Team Interface

OK, this is new territory, so I guess the ethics as we see it had better go now:

Ground-up build - instructions allowed (of course this is safer)

On-site build - no instructions - way too much beta in there!
