What's On For Climbers, Buxton Adventure Festival (11-12 Oct)

We've got a great programme for climbers at this year's Buxton Adventure Festival in the Peak District (11-12 October) including Tim Emmett & Shauna Coxsey.  Plus Brit Rock Tour films starring Mina Leslie-Wujastyk and Julian Lines.  The University of Derby are launching Thunderdome - a brand new free adventure event and dry tooling competition.  All alongside the Great Peak District Fair & Buxton Beer Festival.

FREE ACTIVITIES

THUNDERDOME DRY TOOLING COMPETITION - 9AM-8PM SATURDAY 11th OCTOBER - FREE
The star attraction of the University of Derby's Thunderdome Buxton Campus Open Day event is what promises to be an amazing Dry Tooling Competition in the Devonshire Dome - Europe's largest unsupported Dome.  Open to pro climbers. Andy Turner, Team GB ice climber, has devised the course and will be competing on the day as will Tim Emmett.  Find out more.

There are also free Mountain Training Taster Sessions with Mountain Training and Alpine Skills Workshops with Peak Mountain Training and free family activities including a mini climbing wall with the YHA.  Find out more.

Tim Emmett is a rock and ice climber, B.A.S.E jumper, wingsuit Flyer, surfer, skier, snowboarder, inspirational speaker, and stuntman and has made a living out of his passion for climbing and extreme sports.  Find out more.

21 year old professional climber Shauna Coxsey won Silver at this year's International Federation of Sport Climbing’s Bouldering World Cup. Find out more.

BRIT ROCK FILM TOUR - 8PM SATURDAY 11th OCTOBER

ADVENTURE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP - 7.30AM SUNDAY 12TH OCTOBER

KAREN DARKE - PARALYMPIC ADVENTURER - 12PM SUNDAY 12TH OCTOBER
A few years ago, Karen Darke was on a rock-climbing expedition on sea cliffs in Scotland. She fell, and was paralysed.  She’s since gone on to win a Silver medal in handcycling at the 2012 Paralympics.  She’ll talk about her most recent expedition - cycling across Tibet as well as other adventures like climbing El Capitan.  Find out more.
