oh! and cheers to the dude who voted 'poor'. merry xmas to you.
Sean Bell - 14/Dec/10
I don't understand the people who vote poor for what are clearly decent photos.... It seems as though some people do it in order to get their own photos into a more prominent position in the weekly rankings. Nice photo, well done

Slight quibble. It looks slightly over exposured because it is reading the exposure for the sky, but otherwise excellent vision for this adreneline charged image.
Sean Kelly - 14/Dec/10
Hi Sean, do you mean reading exp from the trees? I have boosted the contrast a tad and used a bit of desat so this might give the over exposed look. Its lit with three off camera speedlites aswell (it was very dark in there! :-) )Thanks for the feedback mate.

Sean lad, another great snap as always!!! ill reluctantly give you a 5, clearly worth it but i wanna get photo of the week! need to catch up for a route sometime, or convince you to dust off your snowboard!
Neil Mackenzie - 16/Dec/10
It's probably the flash that has slightly washed out the image. See Alex's recent shot for good use of fill flash. If you try to recapture this image get the cyclist to wear bright orange against a blue sky, or blue against vibrant autumn colours(Beechwoods are especially colourful). But it's the viewpoint you selected that really makes for an impressive photo.
Sean Kelly - 16/Dec/10
Sorry Sean, flash hasnt washed out the image at all, I boosted the overall exposure as I fancied a play about for effect.I have linked to other images taken with the exact same lighting on the same jump that day (this one I shot in portrait and more side on) this is how the original looks, as you can see, the flash has been balanced.Whether you like the ratio of flash to ambient is your preference.I can set flash to meld into the ambient (fill) or tweak the amb/speedlite ratio's for effect, knocking out the background and going flash heavy.Ive mixed it up a bit here. This shoot wasnt planned, just a muck around, so maybe next time Ill get him to wear the tango outfit :-)
