Overview
'The House': A beautiful, traditionally restored, three-storey, terrace village house with character, loads of room and the best view from the roof terrace in the village (see photo!). The house has - 3 bedrooms (1 double, 1 twin & one single),Kitchen/ dining room with chestnut beams, Large lounge with wood burning stove and balcony, Roof Terrace with fantastic views down the Rio Santo Gorge and across the Sierra de Albunuelas and Sierra Nevada, Cooker/ fridge etc, Bath/shower room
'The Village': To call the village 'laid back' would be an understatement with the rhythm of daily life definitely set to 'slow'. The village is without doubt 'unspoilt' and has loads of charm and character - there are still over 50 working donkeys in Albunuelas!
‘The Climbing’: I have nothing against El Chorro but I think the climbing around Granada beats it hands down! There are several top quality, 5 star venues each with hundreds of routes F4 – F9a: Los Vados (absolutely awesome single & multi pitch & 10 mins from beach!) (20mins), Los Cahorros (Monachil) (35 mins), Loja (50mins); a little further Torcal de Antequera (1.10) is also fantastic. There are also a number of smaller venues including sea cliff climbing on the beach at Motril.
‘Other stuff’: Albunuelas is within easy striking distance of the city of Granada (30min) with the legendary Alhambra Palace; the great beaches of the Costa Tropical (35min); and the Sierra Nevada ski slopes (Jan – April) (1 hr) – so if your tips are knackered you can go powder skiing or snowboarding! Fly form the UK to either Granada or Malaga.
