Good new facility with an 11m high lead wall with some "natural" features, and a separate bouldering room. The routes are vertical to slightly overhanging with a variety of top-ropes, leading on insitu draws and leading on your own draws.
You need to do an assessment before you start climbing. Equipment hire and tuition is available.
I've been about 4 times over the last 3 months. The routes have been the same the whole time. Needs new routes desperately!
In the Boulder room, nothing is graded. Could deffo do with a clean from the coloured chalk marking old, non-existant routes.
I am a regular climber here and at transition extreme. RGU Sport is graded harder than Transition and other places like ratho - up to 3 grades harder. the feature are nice but the wall needs cleaned of chalk.
The bouldering room has a vast amount of feature and hold orientated routes of ranging dificulty.
The facility overall is modern and well maintained.
Where to start.. they have a max occupancy figure for the main wall, and when reached they wont let you just boulder, despite the room being empty.
Have pointed this out to them in writing.
A good wall, but let down massivley by the way it is run. They have similar to the wall in Leics I was used to, yet none of the same passion and energy that made the tower a good wall.
