Overview

Qualified Instructors/Guides if Required.
Local Climbing Gear Shop.

The area is mentioned as one of the winter destination for climbers in the low- and mid-grades on the British climbing, mountaineering and hillwalking forum, UK Climbing!

Via Ferrata on the Ponoch (Sleeping Lion) - A new via ferrata has been created straight up the face of the huge Ponoch. This is a very vertical undertaking, in fact some of it overhangs. However it is extremely well equipped with every step of the way marked by the standard large metal staples so it is easy enough even for beginners. The only thing they may struggle with is the exposure which is considerable. It currently does not reach the very top of the mountain but stops at a major saddle in the mountain some way short. From here a reasonably easy path is followed right to two long abseils.

Sierra Bernia Range
A superb mountain circuit with an optional ascent of this spectacular peaks highest summit. Visit mountain springs, an ancient fort and even a tunnel through the mountain! The Bernia Ridge dominates the view East from Abdet and Guadalest with its Matterhorn like profile. In reality it a long ridge which also provides a mountaineering challenge (ropes needed) like the Cuillin Ridge in Scotland. You can drive up to the Alpine style settlements high on the flanks of the mountain via a narrow road.

Distances - 8 kms - 400 Metres of Ascent - Or 11 kms and 800 Metres of Ascent including the summit.

Sierra Aitanna
Sierra Aitana is the highest point on the Costa Blanca. The summit of the “Aitana” is 1.558 meters above sea level, which is higher than its neighboring peak “Puig Campana” which has a height of 1.410 meters above sea level.

It is mainly the eastern slopes of “Sierra Aitana” that offers walkers the opportunity to enjoy the unique landscape.

One of the most popular circular walking trails is the “Passet de la Rabosa”, which takes you from the “Font de Patragat” up to the summit of the “Aitana”. You need to allow about 4-5 hours for the trail.
