Walking up the Grisedale trench from Patterdale you will come to a small wooden footbridge. Walk past this until you reach the second much larger bridge spanning the Grisedale beck. Looking up at the crag face you will see West Chockstone gully, 120 meters to the right of this you will find Far West Gully. The entrance to St Sunday's final true gully stands at a much higher level being large and open to the elements and receiving a lot more sunshine than any other part of the crag face. The gully is guarded at the entrance by a large dark boulder, scramble to the right of this and you will come to a series of small rock steps all running freely with water. None of these will pose any real problems although the second last step was a bit tricky, scrambling on wet slippery foot holds was never a favorite past time of mine. Once cleared the summit of St Sunday is a few minutes walk away to the left of the exit area. To the right of Far West Gully is another open gully like feature which appeared to offer a safe descent on what I can only describe as rich earthy scree. I resisted this opportunity preferring to visit St Sunday's summit one last time ...Big Hell
