The second time I have failed on this! I made it past the first 5b move this time (still can't do it, I'm 5'7, a desperate dyno got it,) the second 5b move on the second overlap is bold, looks irreversible and was to much for my fragile state of mind. We flicked onto the 5c move on Swastika, which was fun and finished up the 5a corner crack of the Pause (still brilliant.)

Chose this route because it looked the driest. Obviously gets little traffic. Some very old and weird tat, plus lots of moss, including thick growths on crucial holds of the second overlap. I fell shortly after cleaning such a hold and after having arranged the gear for second overlap: foot slipped off a mossy ramp just as I - totally comfortable - was reaching for the rope to clip in. Should have paid more attention, or perhaps I just let my body tension slacken as I relaxed knowing that I was (about to be) safe. Last two bits of gear popped, as I had anticipated they would, but WC Zero 5 held, again as anticipated. Fell about 3 or 4 metres onto the slab then another 5 or 6 metres down the slab, accompanied by the smell of cordite from one of the ripped nuts. Elected not to continue incase minor sprains to wrist and ankle stiffened. Abbed off. Lead all the pitches till that point. Not well described in the guides. The "dubious flake" is in fact a not-dubious spike. Route definitely not a pushover, and we hadn't even reached the crux! First roof probably harder than 5b for anyone under about 5 foot 10. Second roof definitely bold and well worth E2. Padding pitches E1 at most. Keen to go back and do it again (especially while my sling and screwgate are still hanging from the spike!)
