On the Upper Tier, directly left of the Amphitheatre Escape Route, is a steep buttress composed of a series of short vertical steps, interspersed by ledges. Serious due to several very large loose blocks. Difficult to find: the landmark to look for is a short, prominent crag directly above the crest of E Buttress.
The lower section of the ridge is loose, serious and wet and is best avoided on the right (more loose rock). After this, short blank steps are climbed mostly by mantelshelf moves. The crux is at just over half height, where a very steep move around a protruding nose (smears for feet, crimps for hands) allows access to the easier upper ridge.
