Nice to finally climb one of the main ribs on Stob Ban. The climb is a little unbalanced, with the first pitch being significantly trickier than the rest of the route. Rocky slabs and vegetation obscured by snow, so required a bit of clearing to find gear. The upper ridges were good fun and quite atmospheric.

Absolutely miserable experience. Climbing wet slush in the rain, nothing solid, loose turf, slippery slabs, broken rock. Bad choice of route if out of condition. Wait for the freeze before attempting. No gear was designed for this, except perhaps a bucket and sponge.

VERY wet day - mainly rain but snow very high up. Walk-in needed an effort (apart from rain), particularly the last bit, due to fresh snow. The crag looked wintery, plastered with snow. Steve lead P1, but none of the turfs was frozen, while this route turned out to be turf-dependent, so we retreated by abseil. The coldest experience by far in this season for me.

Lead first pitch, then had to escape off into central gully as route not in condition and couldn't see any gear for 30+ metres.
