Rockfax Description
250m. The easiest route around here and a popular choice; you'll need to be on the first lift if you want to get on this ahead of everyone else.
1) 4c, 2) 5a, 3) 5a, 4) 4c, 5) 5a. Cross the grassy ledge a long way leftwards to reach the final two pitches.
6) 4c, 7) 5a.
By scrambling for 150m from the top of pitch 7 it is possible to do another three pitches on the upper buttress of the Floria. These final pitches are fully bolted and can be abseiled in descent, grades - 5c, 5b, 5b. © Rockfax

Climbed the upper 5 pitches after finishing "Asia", then simul-climbed 200m to the summit. Descent by reversing the simul-climbing, abseiling the top 3 pitches, then scrambling down the gully from the Top Bastion. Great day out, 10 pitches and some of the best views from the summit that Chamonix offers!

Led P2,4. We ended up finishing off on another route as it seemed a bit more technical. I led the second pitch on that one (5b), but ended up being fairly straight forward. Overall, a really nice day out, and a interesting route with 2-3 nice moves. (Worth leaving very early in the morning if you want to go all the way up to the summit of La FLoria as it can be a very long day.)

Led P1,3,5. P5 has a lovely finish, ended up doing 2 pitches of another route to finish (just right of where this is meant to go up) as they were meant to be spiceier, probably best to stick to the full route as the 2 extra pitches were pretty easy. Damn nice day out all the same though. :)

I though this route was relatively un-interesting. Most of the climbing is straightforward with only a few interesting moves. Well bolted where needed. The route appeared to just end at the end of the 5th pitch - likely I missed a bolt, so traversed left and joined another route that finished about 20m to right of Asia. We rapped Asia but again must have got off route as the second ab into the gulley appeared to have no belay station. Managed to get to a belay to lookers left but with 1m spare on our 60s, so clearly off route. I'm told you can scramble right to get back on Asia but didn't look that appealing! Way too much snow to descend from summit or shoulder on foot without mountain boots and an axe (minimum).

Middle section less interesting. But the other eight pitches was nice.

Arrived at a steep wall at one point with no bolts in sight so had to psych myself up to launch into the unknown, luckily bolts soon appeared. Finished up a steep slab with 3 bolts in it which massively reduced the fear factor! Tried to finish up Asia as there was a party on the middle tier section but time was short and route wasn't amazing so lowered off. Had a 'mare on the abseil down with a rope getting jammed off route and ended up having to walk all the way down to Chamonix due to missing the last chair lift whilst sorting out the ropes.

Good climbing but some really creaky holds... Carried on to summit.

Did 3 pitches out of the five. Good route, really enjoyed it. Bag was too heavy, managed first pitch wearing it but had to haul it - hard work. In the end we gave up and abbed off.
