Rockfax Description
A big tough crack for big tough climbers!
1) 12m. Climb the lower groove of Shadow Wall to the first large tree, belay.
2) 5b, 30m. Step right and launch up the steep corner-crack to a ledge. Step right into a groove then back left to follow Shadow Wall to its tree belay. Most people abseil off this.
3) 8m. As for the final pitch of Shadow Wall. © Rockfax

The crack is really good, found the airy steps right and left afterwards harder than the main event

Went up left hand crack to ledge then step back into zangorilla. Good alternative to the bigger crack.

bren lead in one big pitch. went up the left hand crack (not the big wide one) then at the top stepped right instead into zangorilla lower down for a few moves and followed straight up for a harder finish up the shallow corner to the final ledge of shadow wall via some thin hand jams probably making the route more like E1

Felt pretty brutal to me. couldn't get my fist into the crack and ended up falling off. Em lead up to the top of the crack then I did the top part so done in three pitches

Unexpectedly superb route.

Scrambled up to the Holly tree then climbed the route in 1 pitch. Quality climbing, worth at least 2 stars (not sure why it only gets 1 in the guides?). Perfectly safe and well protected, unless, like us, you turn up with a number 4 dragon cam as your biggest piece. In which case, be prepared for 5m run outs between shit cams and periodically moving the gold number 4 up with you as you climb!

Brilliant route. Great line, lots of different interesting sections, good holds, good protection. Should have 3 stars!

Nice climb, slightly bold 1st pitch. 2nd pitch easier than it looks.

Ended up climbing P2 of this as a harder substitute of P1 of Shadow wall. Accidental and didn't realize at the time. Gripping climbing for what I thought was 4a. Good times in the mountains.

The horror, the horror... Brilliant pitch, took my first leader fall halfway up. Unfortunately it started raining as I got to the top so Ed couldn't follow so had to ab for the gear.

At the crux my right arm was completely jammed (horror...), and so I had to place high gear, took a weight off and took it out (it still took 5 minutes!). Anyhow what a fantastic route!! Definitely 3 star and it rivals any HVS route in North Wales IMHO.
