Rockfax Description
This ancient classic can feel bit bold. Climb the easy slab until the projecting buttress to the right can be reached by a short traverse. Balance up this to a final sketchy move (large gear or thread) or sneak off right if you are too short. © Rockfax

Slippy and scary! Think I was on it too soon after rain.

V green and grubby in the first half. A bit of gardning was required. Once past the tree the route improved. Interesting and commuting step round the corner. Good gear in the lower break. Dodgy move to gain the upper break and then noting but disappointment in terms of runners. Couldn't get anything in, even the dragon 6, nothing to thread either. Got a cam in a crack round to the right but this would have resulted in a swing into the right wall if I came off. Final top out is sketchy and very font esque although some of the scratched initials make for mediocre hand holds.

Top roped the last slab - no gear! Somewhat bold, and the hardest moves are at the end.

Didn't feel well. Fun climb with good slab and bold moves at the top.

Definite flutter factor. Plenty of scope for cams traversing the top block. Rockfax suggests large gear but a brick in the last crack allows for threading.

Pete left the massive cam clipped to gear before setting off up the upper slab. He regretted that!

Lower section was really dirty but the slab was clean. Two pidgens hiding in top break gave me a fright!

Easy, but scary. Harder moves into the final horizontal crack can be protected if you look right round the corner- it was one of the red anodised ones (not my gear so not sure what size wallnut/rock it was). A large cam (blue camalot) in the wide crack at the base of the buttress would make it considerably safer- course I didn't have one.

thomb 17/Jul/10 Lead

Do take a piece of very large gear to protect the final slab - soloing the top 2/3 of the route was rather tenuous!

no gear for me after the traverse leaving a very large run out which felt like a HVS 4b, nice though

Top slab is easy but bold. Loved every second of this, despite the rain kicking in for the last few moves.

Very exposed and the last part is really really run out with alot of drag, need half ropes really. although nice climb, would not want to do it again because o exposed scary run out.

Very green but lots of pockets on the bottom half, final sketchy move was very committing - a hard mantle relying on a left foot smear.

Green but easy bottom slab. Stepping out onto the top wall was great fun. The final move was sketchy even with the big gear (could have done with size larger cam)...but easily escapable.

VS??? Blind mans crack at Vdiff was harder. You may as well ignore the grades for most routes on this crag

Harder and bolder than you might expect? Looks hard and bold, but is actually quite easy and not so bold (well except the final boulder problem which is protectable with big gear)
