Rockfax Description
Excellent wall climbing with limited protection and some testing run-outs. Climb up to a peg in a very faint left-trending seam. Technical climbing past another peg, and not much other gear, gains a slim overlap. Easier climbing in the same style finishes this monster pitch. Variation - moving right and finishing up the wall between the finishes of Black Wall and Black Bastard is a trickier option than the original but direct finish. © Rockfax

Down climbed from the crux of this when I was about 16 so psyched to come back for the send. Sort of tricky crux sequence. I actually lead it twice today, didn't realise the first time I had gone off-route and finished up Black Wall. Actually worth considering this finish as the chossy upper wall doesn't really add much to the quality of the route as a whole (it was raining mud and choss on Paul belaying)

Freezing fingers. Harder than I remembered. Reasonable gear when it's there but runnout between it. At the top I finished up the gap in the guide between the finish of Black B*stard and Black Wall original. Quite a hard finish like this. Probs makes it hard E4 overall.
