Slingsby's Chimney is the crux, sharp but short!

Big day out! Cruising until we met Slingsby's chimney. Gavin didn't fancy it so I thought I'd have a crack. That chimney had everything I've got! Unfortunately I had to rest on my gear at the entrance to the chimney as I was tired from trying to find rock hooks as there was no consolidated snow or ice. Great route and really pleased to have got up it!

The Chimney is desperate - must be hard in all but exceptional conditions. Much flailing and dogging, eventually managed to get established by kind of launching into it and getting jammed sideways.

The chimney is wonderfully udgey and in a great position high up on the crag. 3* in my opinion and IV 5.

On what seems to be the first recorded winter ascent we thought it was about as difficult as Moss Ghyll, but less sustained. The chimney itself was desperate for a couple of moves though.
