Go to Praia Vermelha, which is close to the where the cable car starts.On the left side of the beach starts the "Pista Claudio Coutinho", which is easy to find (even we could). It is a nice, shady, paved footpath along the sea, about 2 km long. Follow the paved footpath along the sea until its end. Then there is a small, narrow footpath, it passes a building and then you are at the trailhead.
The first 10 meters is some climbing, then its slabby scrambling, bush trail scrambling and a 15m 4a section about 3/4 of the way up.
