From the Pont des Brebis near Le Pied du Col, east of Villar d’Arène (1780m height gain, 6 hours). A good path in the beginning, but this deteriorates when scree fields are encountered; if possible, snow fields may be better at this point. Continue on rocky outcrops before reaching the Col du Bec, followed by the north arête of the Bec de l’Homme. The Vire Amieux ledge, with its fixed cables, leads you onto the Glacier du Tabuchet, which will bring you to the newly restored and improved Aigle hut. For a descent, reverse the route.
