Rockfax Description
(The Sea Eagle - the name used in Orkney, Scotland. A line up the right side of the slab - bold and with tricky route finding.
1) N3+, 45m. Start a few metres right of Sea Breeze on a small grassy ledge and climb straight up the slab, passing a grass ledge at half-height to a belay on cams in a good break.
2) N4, 35m. Go up and then right via a ramp to a stance by a big loose flake.
3) N4+, 30m. Climb straight up steeper wrinkly rock.
4) N4+ 30m. Straight up again (unprotected) to a belay in a recess level with crack in the steep wall to the right.
5) N5-, 30m. Climb rightwards through the tricky overlaps to a stance in a grassy bay.
6) N5-, 40m. Move out right, then pass an overlap to a stance in a small scoop.
7) N3+, 35m. Head up and right passing a diagonal dyke - bold.
8) N4, 45m. A short slab and vertical dyke lead to a big grass ledge with hidden flake belay.
9) N4+, 40m. Climb a little grassy groove to the base of a diagonal flake. Layback up this a short way to a good stance.
10) N5-, 40m. Continue up the crack and the slab above to reach the top of Sea Breeze. © Rockfax
