UKC

Described in the Brian Evans guide as being of "no particular merit", this is actually an enjoyable scramble to do with novices or a good consolation prize on a wintry day, when other scrambles feel too committing.

In the lower section, steps of clean, grippy rock amongst grass and boulders, provide isolated entertainment that can be easily avoided. Further up, the rock becomes more continuous, with a number of small buttresses eventually forming ridge. This is climbed via a series of grooves and corners, which become less escapable toward the top. Enjoyable and reasonably sustained, with harder or easier options, leading out onto the top of the Napes below Westmorland's Crag.
