Rockfax Description
A direct version of Breaking the Barrier with a tough start. Start 6m right of Breaking the Barrier near the toe of the buttress below and right of a slim hanging groove. Make steep moves up the wall and, if you are lucky, swing left into the base of the hanging groove. Climb this to its end and head straight up the wall above to finish in the same shallow groove as Breaking the Barrier. © Rockfax

Climbed up and down to place the gear in for the crux. I agree with E3, a fall from the last past of the crux could have you swinging your ankles into the boulders.

Tough, boulder problem start - hard cranking to get over the overhang. The rest of the route on the slab is probably 4c/5a, 5b at most.

Crux is off the ground and then rest is easy. E2 6a.

Easy to place the gear for the crux and climb back to the ground before going for it. Felt more like E2 6a as the crux is off the ground and the rest of the route is much easier.

Ken Applegate 25/Aug/09 Lead β

First E3, though I guess a soft touch, as after the cruxy start, it was pretty straight forward, the upper slab felt easier than Breaking the Barrier, the climb to it's left.

Bit of climbing up and down the initial overhang to fiddle with gear, then just blasted through. Awesome move!
