The roof is a Scheduled Monument with evidence of it having been used as a shelter from the Palaeolithic Age. The main purpose of the designation is to protect deposits in the floor under the roof and in the surrounding area. This doesn’t automatically preclude climbing at the site, but ground disturbance is completely forbidden with a maximum fine of up to £50,000 and/or up to 6 months in jail. Extreme care should be taken to preserve the site.

Under the roof on the right. Use of undercuts in roof. Right hand slaps to the vague crack feature. Left hand to the left of crack feature. Traverse round to finish up the head wall.
