From the Wägitalersee pts. 931m or 922m follow the marked path to Zindlenspitz through Aberliboden 1101m and Zindlen 1536m, continuing to the building at Ober Zindeln, 1855m. Shortly above this contour around the slope towards the col on the ridgeline at 1884m, some faint paths (note that this is above the path marked on some maps which contours lower down across a scree slope and finally takes the obvious narrow ramp which breaches the north facing wall at c.1880m).

Continuing towards the high point on the ridge at 1942m will afford a good view of the steep west wall of the Lachenstock, but one will have to descend and contour further to find the weakness that finally allows access to the north ridge proper: a steep grass slope has some traces of path on the right-hand side and leads to a discontinuous fence line which may be breached in a gap between fence post and rock, a short step of grade 1 and the only necessary scrambling on the route. If the fence post is not in place, it could be harder! Continue south without difficulty staying close to the ridgeline as far as possible, mainly lest you fail to spot the true summit. T4 in the SAC Wanderskala according to the 2004 guidebook, the way is unmarked.
