Had to wait an age for the tide to drop. Well worth it though! The swim was fine bit the rock is a bit friable and the climbing not as good as expected. Great day out still. Stack 2 of the trip.

Great fun. A wetsuit improved the psyche.

Led p1, Jim led p2. An extreme day out given we chose to descend straight across from the stack (not advisable) and then 2 pitches to climb out on loose rock/ grass. Swims were great- helmets for safety! Nice climbing too and all in blazing sunshine..

Easy walk in, precarious gully down-scrambling and boulder hopping (not ideally right after the tide went out), shorter than expected swim. We started up the E1, but it looks like the flake for the second pitch fell down - so P2 and P3 were from HVS. Nice enough climbing, but in itself - nothing to write home about. 2 60m halves are enough to get down in 1 abseil. Excellent day out

Biking then walking approach. Scrambling down the wet and loose gully (followed by slimy boulder hopping) was very precarious and took ages (1hr). Waded in at the shortest part on rock at the lowest (spring) tide submerged up to abdomen, and swam out for 15m before the mid-tide. 1.5hr ascent. Grades were felt like 4b, 5a/b, 4c for P1,2,3, respectively, on untrustable rock with even poorer gear. The crux move on the last pitch wasn't "easy", as a guidebook suggests. We used 70m double ropes, but 60m should be enough (maybe even 50m?) to abseil in one pitch. What we talked about after the climb was much more about the approach (to get to the bottom of the route) and return, rather than climbing itself! An adventure!

An adventure. Walk and swim were fine! The Scottish Rock North photo topo is incorrect for Atlantic Wall and the description fits with the topo and southwest arete. So, I blindly headed up the southwest arete. Whilst pausing for a look around my foothold blew and narrowly missing killing Iain. I had a timid look round the corner then bailed. Mike heroically took over and soared up the pitch before we realised we were totally wrong. Fortunately we were back on the Original Route which we proceeded to climb. Small grains rained down and loose rock threatened throughout. Very fun. A birdless ascent. Phew.

entertaining throughout, althou not enough birds for my liking. started off with classic approach swim, followed by a near death experience as dunc dislodge a football sized block that nearly decapitated me, rusting peg belays, holds breaking off, rats nest of abseil tat....really had it all other than the birds....

A nice climb. Found it worth 2 stars and less dirty/chossy than described in the Scottish Rock (Vol.2) guidebook. Abseil tat ok. We were lucky the sea was calm. Used a bivvi bag to float the gear across. Lead P1 and 3.

A serious, exposed route with some pretty rotten gear. VS sounds a bit better. An awesome adventure.
