The 'detached' section of fort © Toerag
This is the large outcrop of rock the fort is built on. The attitude of the fort's owners (Landmark Trust) towards climbing is unknown, however the outcrop is split into two pieces, one of which is separate to the main fort and shouldn't cause trouble.
Park at the landward end of the causeway to the fort, walk across and scramble around the base of the fort. The whole fort area is tidal, but I don't know to what extent, so I suggest planning to be there below half tide.
There are no bird restrictions.
