Crag features
Super hard quartzite with a flat concrete base - the concrete is part of the Vlakfontein water treatment works. This crag used to be climbed regularly in the 1980s and 1990s, but has fallen into complete disuse due to theft/mugging incidents at the crag.
Approach notes
Access was normally from the North past the Vlakfontein water treatment works. Walk towards the kloof and follow the path into it. Just before the crag you will be required to negotiate either a scramble round to the right following the river, or a walk through a 50m tunnel containing the works pipes.
PLEASE NOTE: THIS INFO IS HERE FOR HISTORICAL REASONS. IT IS NO LONGER SAFE TO CLIMB AT BAVIAANSPOORT.
