Crag features

The Evil Rotter! Intriguing, short mountaineering routes, featuring (you guessed it) some rotten rock.

Approach notes

Access to the south side from the Linthal-Braunwald funicular with a chair lift available to Gumen pt.1901. From there follow the path 1.5km west to the depression between pt.1956 and the col Butzi pt. 2150m. Just after a fence take the grassy ridge on the right (northwards) with blue and white short marker sticks (the blue has faded off a lot of them though) which is the descent parth from the Eggstock klettersteig. At a crest where the blue/white path drops inot a rocky hollow before continuing north up to the end of the Eggstock ridge, turn left on a fairly obvious unmarked, grassy path. After a short time, as the terrain becomes more rocky, cairns appear, as well as discrete white paint streaks and dots on the naturally white streaked rock. The way continues through the undulating landscape over hillocks and exposed rock to a shepherds' hut west of pt. 2462. Flourescent orange dots then take you to the right hand side of the snowfield in the hollow at the foot of the face (green dots on the return!).
