A fun little area on the slopes just above Table Mountain / Tafelberg Road. There are a variety of good problems in the lower grade range.
Approach notes
Follow Table Mountain / Tafelberg Road beyond the cable car station for about 800 metres - if you reach the Platteklip Gorge trail you have gone too far - the path is on your right next to a small sub-station. If unsure, up the slope you should be able to see a wooden pallisade which surrounds the flood-lights that light up the mountain in December. Walk in time is about 1 minute the path splits, the main path takes you to the Warm Up Boulder and then Purgatory Boulder, the left path takes you to the Slab Boulder, Slopey Sam Boulder and The Nooner Boulder, and eventually circles round to also reach the Purgatory Boulder. N.B. The left hand path isn't obvious, but leads towards the flood-lights, so look out for these when finding the path.
Access Advice
Please stick to the path to protect the local fauna and reduce environmental impact, this also secures future access to the boulders. There have been muggings in the area in the past, these tend to be in more remote areas of the mountain but it is still recommended to climb with a partner and during the day. The area is prone to bush fires so please avoid smoking or cooking.
