Crag features

Coire Chat (Noe Buttress). The finest winter cliff on the mountain, a truly wild setting with great views north up Loch Etive and beyond, on compact, crack rich granite. The routes are typically 70-80m in length of continuously sustained mixed technical climbing, and with two or three good gully lines as well this crag really will appeal to escapists. The aspect and altitude means that the crag comes into condition very quickly.

Approach notes

Be prepared for approximately 3hrs of walk in. Start at the entrance to Falls of Cruachan Train Station and follow the footpath up hill until the Dam is reached. Walk around the west shore of this and at the far left end of the dam start an ascent of the slopes to the summit of Cruachan. The crag is below and west of the summit.

Volunteer to moderate Ben Cruachan - Noe Buttress
We rely on volunteers to moderate their local crags. You would check updates and approve climbs added to the database. It's a very easy job, and all you need is a guidebook and an hour or two each month. [ read more ]
