Crag features

Known localy as ''Roques'', Roque de Enmedio is an impressive 120m high volcanic plug charecterised by compact volcanic rock. Holds are generally slopers which slope outward but if you look there are some decent crimps, pinches and even some jugs. The rock is generally so compact on the N face that gear placements on some routes are almost impossible. All current routes are multipitch in the 3-4 pitch region. one bolted sport and the rest trad or aid. All the routes have decent runouts.

A helmet is recommended as although the rock is fairly compact there are the odd loose rock and goat herds frequent the area.

Approach notes

Google map it toward the village of Taganana (Parque rural de Anaga) on the islands NE tip. After passing through the tunnel descend a few curves before arriving at a lay-by right next to which is a small rock spire. Descend a path from the lay-by leaving this small ''roque'' on the left. The trail is fairly well marked as you approach the south face of Roque de Enmedio. From this side it look little more than a scramble and after summiting this is where you descend (no real path for descent and some grade 2/3 scrambling). Flank Roque de Enmedio until you can clearly descend infornt of the N face. Stay off the abandoned terraces as they are full of brambles. Head down hill until arriving infront of an electricity pylon and then crosscountry toward it. From there scramble up a rock band slightly to the right. From the top of the band you have to bush whack to the base of the wall.
