Climbs ?
Rocktype Quartzite
Altitude 1316m a.s.l
Faces E

Crag features

The central clean face behind the waterfall is around 1000m high and overhangs by around 60m overall. There are aid and free routes of around 500m that start from a shoulder up on the left, and the original route of the cliff climbs jungly rock some way to the right of the falls.

Approach notes

A Cessna flight into Kamarata/Kavac followed by a 2-3 day dugout boat journey to beneath the falls, from which the walk-in would take just 2 or 3 hours without loads.

Restricted Access

While the law isn't clear on the legality of climbing on the tepui faces (it is prohibited to use the summits for recreation), the park authorities, and in particular the Guardia Nacional, don't permit climbing here and will most likely confiscate climbing equipment if found. All known ascents in recent decades have approached by boat from Kamarata/Kavac to avoid the checkpost at the airstrip in Canaima.
