Crag features

A fine austere cliff, north-facing in a lofty position looking out over Saddleworth Moors, and the steep slopes running down to Holme Clough and the Greenfield Reservoir. The situation of the cliff and the outlook give a remoter feel than almost any other crag in the Peak, with few signs of human activity from the top of the cliff. The likelihood is that, unless the weather is absolutely perfect, you will have the place to yourself.

There is a fine set of climbs here, many following good cracklines, with more arduous undertakings up the dividing walls and arêtes. The crag is a harsh task-master in all but perfect conditions, and such conditions are pretty uncommon up here. The climbs are graded for such ideal days, but if you are here when things are damp and greasy, be prepared to lower your sights or get ready for a hard time.

Approach notes

The crag can be reached from the Binn Green picnic area by dropping down to the reservoir, taking a left turn and walking up the valley until below the left-hand end of the cliff which is reached by a steep ascent.

Approach time: 50 mins

I lost a wild country xenon when I was here about a month ago. Only just found out you can ask on UKC. I know it's a long shot, but has anyone found it?
