'Summertime' in March © phantom whistler

Crag features

A set of north-facing cliffs that offer shady climbing in the hotter months. A cool breeze often blows down the valley, helping ameliorate the temperatures, though the approach to the cliffs can get you hot under the collar. The actual Summertime crag is the only one of these cliffs to see a lot of action; it can be VERY busy despite the fact that the routes aren't all that good - such is the draw of the shade. Magoulias Wall sees a fair few visitors and is worth a look as an alternative.

Approach notes

Drive round the bay towards Arginonta, keeping an eye out for a quarry and old concrete shell on the right side of the road. Park here - or (better due to there being no risk of stone fall) at the lay-by on the opposite side of the road. Summertime and Magoulias Wall are reached by scrambling up a short rock step, then following tracks. For the rest of the routes, park 750m further along the road below the steep gully that runs up to the black caves of Highlands and take the appropriate path.
