The Kampenwand is a very well developed mountain in terms of infrastructure for hikers, bikers as well as climbers.

There is a cable car going from Aschau to the plateau of the mountain as well as numerous hiking trails from all sides of the mountain. Some of these trails can be used by bike as well.

The approach on foot takes anywhere from 1.5 to 3 hours, depending on which trail and of course the fitness and speed.

The cable car takes roughly 15 minutes one way and the price for both ways is slightely above 20€.

The Kampenwand can be extremely well visited by day visitors as well as climbers.

There are possibilities to spend the night on huts.

There are numerous peaks on the Kampenwand and most if not all of them are popular for climbing. Especially every face of the main walls have routes, with the north ones being cool and therefore popular in the summer and the south faces being mostly free of snow even in the winter.

The approaches range from very easy to quite alpine and involving easy climbing in dangerous terrain.

The routes can be bolted quite well for alpine climbs with glued bolts and rings for anchors ("Standplatz" in German), sparsely bolted to completely clean - especially the easy routes.

Since the Kampenwand is so popular rock fall is not as big of a concern as in other areas but still a serious threat, especially in spring and on weekends.

The descent of routes can also range from going down a trial to abseil / rappel stations one has to set up themselves. Most of the time if abseiling is necessary there are glued rings for that.
