Loch Lionais Crag © Jon Read

Crag features

A short inland gneiss outcrop, quick drying and relatively sheltered, in a pleasant setting with views south to Harris. Worth considering when seas are rough, the wind is westerly, and The Little Big Wall proves too hard!

Beware of the potentially damoclean block high in the centre of the crag when gearing up, positioning belayers and toddlers, etc. Plenty of easy vertical bouldering along the foot of the crag.

Approach notes

Park as for Little Big Crag (NB 10726 35359), head north to the beach (gate #1) and skirt east around the back of the dunes (gate #2). After about 150m from the second gate, head south up to a small lochan and down to the crag. 15 minutes.
